The award-winning Westminster venue, One Great George Street played host to two separate royal events on the 2nd February 2012.
The Telford Theatre was the setting for HRH The Prince of Wales who addressed 240 delegates attending the annual Joint ICE and Halcrow Sustainability Lecture, which examined a variety of themes surrounding civil engineering and sustainability. Chef David Wilkinson prepared a lunch using locally sourced produce which was enjoyed by delegates in the magnificent Great Hall which will also become the main working area for press representatives when it hosts the London Media Centre for the 2012 Olympic and Paralympic Games.
The versatility of One Great George Street was highlighted on the same evening when it played host to its second royal visitor that day, HRH The Princess Royal. The historic venue’s Great Hall hosted the Annual Patrons’ and Corporate Supporters’ Drinks Reception for RedR, a charity which trains aid workers and provides skilled professionals to humanitarian programmes worldwide. HRH The Princess Royal became president of RedR in 1988 and has attended many events in aid of this wonderful charity at the Westminster Venue. HRH presented awards to a selection of recipients before hosting a drinks reception which took place at the rear of the Great Hall.
“Once again, the flexibility of One Great George Street is highlighted by accommodating two different high-profile events on the same day. As you can imagine, organising events of this calibre take immense planning, preparation and, of course liaising with Palace officials to ensure safety and security procedures are in place. I am proud to work with such an efficient, competent and professional team who guaranteed that every detail has been taken care of to ensure that each event ran smoothly and efficiently.” Commented Gary Payne, Director of One Great George Street.
With its excellent location in the heart of Westminster and exceptional transport facilities making it easily accessible, the award-winning One Great George Street is the premier venue for meetings, conferences, private dinners, awards ceremonies, gala dinners and weddings.
